Spanish Fiesta

 

Bienvenidos! Spanish Summer Camp Fiesta is a fun camp where kids can develop independent learning skills, artistic talent, group play and creative thinking.

The Summer Camp is from June 1 st- June 26th, for kids 2-8 years old, who would like to learn everyday conversational Spanish at all levels. There will be a strong emphasis on vocabulary and action verbs. Choose 1,2,3 or all 4 weeks. Discounts apply! 

Three sessions are available:       

Mornings  8:00 am - 12:00 noon

Afternoons 12:00 noon - 4:00  pm

School length 8:00 - 3:00  pm

Early drop off and after care are also available for a nominal fee.

NEW this year is an early bird camp, May 26 -29th from 8:00 - 12 noon for $80.

We will play Spanish games, read Spanish books and sing Spanish songs. We will be Spanish artists inspired by Picasso and we will create arts and crafts around daily and weekly themes. Completely new material for the entire month!

Week 1: Spanish Karaoke and Music week! We will sing, dance and laugh as much as we can! We will play all sort of instruments, make instruments such as drums, maracas, toc-tocs, chin-chimes and at the end of the week we will perform as a Spanish orcestra. The camp has 2 karaoke machines and few Karaoke CDs from Argentina to sing along! Bring a microphone if you have one! We will learn verbs and vocabulary related to each song as well as names of instruments and words related to positions. Dancing will help us learn lots of action verbs and words for body parts. And of course, we will play games related to instruments, music and songs.

Week 2Cooking extravaganza week! We will prepare simple, healthy and delicious treats. It will be a cooking around the globe! For example: Argentinean Flan, Tortilla Espanola, churros from Mexico), fruit ice-cream from Colombia, alfajores con duce de leche (Argentina) and more! We will learn vocabulary and verbs related to food, eating as well as cooking utensils. We will decorate our own Spanish placemat with colorful fruit, vegetables and anything that goes in the recipes. We will learn about: Naturaleza muerta. Also, bring your apron if you have one. I have spares.

Week 3: Favorite character week. From Diego and Dora to Hannah Montana, Pirates, Princess, Shakira, Star Wars characters and more! Everyone is welcome to dress with their favorite costume. The children will learn vocabulary related to clothing (Click here to see a bilingual list of clothes), textures, colors, sizes and body parts (Click here to see a vocabulary list of body and face parts).  We will work on verbs such as I like...I want...My favorite...I have. Also vocabulary and verbs related to parts of the home and in particular bathroom. We will paint a t-shirt, decorate hats and/or crown/pirate hat etc. depending on the particular character your child likes. 

Week 4 Animal and environment week with an alphabet fiesta for big kids! (Click here for animal alphabet) We will see pictures and watch a presentation related to the different environments as we learn about them. We will use maps and globes to help us locate different animals and their habitat. We will go on imaginary trips using differents forms of transportation (Click here for a bilingual list of words on different forms of transportation) to see animals in Latin America, learn about the Brazilian jungle, Iguazu Falls in Argentina, and we will go to the Andes to see llamas and more! We will learn how to say in Spanish: to hear, to see, to walk, to run, to jump, to stop, and other verbs related to this week theme, working on sentence structure at the same time. We will learn Spanish animal alphabet developed specially for this week with animal pictures and their environment. (Click here for a vocabulary list of 80 animals)

We will go to the Baton Rouge Zoo on June 25th (Thursday) for a Spanish Zoo tour! Information on cost for transportations and group rate for the zoo will follow registration. (Click here for more info)

Every Friday we will have a different Spanish Fiesta day

EARLY BIRD CAMP

May 26 - 29th (Tues to Fri) join our 4 day early bird Spanish camp from 8:00 - 12:00 noon.

Cost: $80. There will be a focus on Spanish vocabulary building using movie themes (Harry Potter, Star Wars, Hannah Montana, Dora/Diego, Elmo, Disney Princesses, and Pirates of the Caribbean) and Spanish cooking

GIRLS will enjoy three spa-style activities to learn body parts, numbers, and colors (manicure, pedicure and facial). Also, we will enjoy sewing a pillow (little girls) or beach bag (older girls). We will let you know the cost for materials. Girls will learn to follow simple Spanish sewing instructions and they will do some simple patterns.

BOYS will love transportation-mania crafts and games with cars, trains, planes, rocket ships and more!
